A new space for people who care about trees to connect and exchange

The earth might be locked in a deadweight of fog and frost, but all through the winter, trees have been developing their roots to nourish their next growing season. It’s a reminder that we too can be tending to our roots and preparing ourselves for the year ahead.

At 10 Trees, we’re surrounded by an incredible community of living trees. And in turn, the garden forms part of another, critically important ecosystem layer - a community of places, groups and people working to care for the natural world. It’s the roots of this community we are hoping to nourish this winter.

Setting up a tree nursery in the garden has led to a lot of conversations with the tree planting community. People have told us they have space for trees but not the help to plant, or that they need saplings, or tools or that they have skills to share. Some people want to get involved in tree planting, but just don’t know where to start.

A new space to connect and exchange around trees.

So we’re offering up a way to come together more - a Commons for Trees for the Hope Valley and High Peak. It’s a purposeful, virtual and real community - made by everyone, for everyone - where people can find out what’s going on, connect with each other and get help to make things happen.

What’s on? First aid training, pruning and tree planting

The first asks and offers into this communal space are already here - including a handful of last-minute places on an outdoor first aid training course this week on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd January - an essential qualification for anyone working outside with volunteers. It’s a collaboration between Beyond the Edge (keen tree planters and highly respected trainers of mountaineers) and Dark Peak Soul (the team behind 10 Trees).

Places are limited. Email us to request a place.
